The Wheel
a ring to demonstrate the functioning of the world (metal smithing design)
Inspired by the Mechanism theory, which posits that everything in the world influences one another, including the world itself, nature, and human relationships, I sought to depict the workings of the universe through The Wheel. The brass material and intricate details of the conceptual rings lend them the appearance and function of a complex machine, inviting the viewer to experience the vastness of the world within the small scale of the art pieces.

THE WHEEL I
The rotation of the axle drives the gears, causing the entire ring to function as a machine in motion.
The hemispherical components symbolize planets and the horizontal circular bars serve as connectors, transforming the mechanism into a work of art.
THE WHEEL II
Observation reveals that the gears of The Wheel II are not linked, indicating that the machine is inoperable.
In contrast to The Wheel I, I designed The Wheel II in a vintage style. From its form to its finish, it evokes a sense of nostalgia, conveying the idea that certain traditional standards or values are becoming obsolete and may be replaced like components.
