Snatchel
a wooden cabinet-shaped bag featuring a medieval pattern (woodworking design)

The original brief of this project was a wooden cabinet, and I approached it with innovative thinking and transformed the design into a portable cabinet called Snatchel. This challenge not only pushes the boundaries of traditional concepts and functionality, but also serves as an experiment in material and aesthetics. The Snatchel successfully combines the characteristics of both a cabinet and a satchel, offering an opportunity for individuals to reconsider the ideal form of an object.

Mortise and tenon

Snatchel is a unique blend of traditional and contemporary design elements. Its medieval cabinet-inspired structure has been transformed into a portable bag, and the addition of leather detailing adds a modern, fashionable touch.

The use of mortise and tenon joint construction allowed for the realization of the desired compact size of the cabinet, while the incorporation of epoxy in place of traditional pattern carving adds a transparent visual effect.
